Dark Eldar Army Lists
As the title so eloquently puts it, this page is devoted to Dark Eldar army lists that I currently use and have battle tested for competitiveness. With some exceptions, these are the lists I am currently using in games and tournaments. Each entry will include the actual list and points values, as well as basic to advanced tactical explanations. You will notice that I have lists from both the new and old DE codices, as noted in the list titles. The old lists are there purely for reference purposes, they are no longer usable.
The army lists will be ranked in order of their competitiveness. The lists at the top are the most competitive, while the ones at the bottom are more casual in nature. Good luck and enjoy! :D

Total Points: [2000]
First off, this list was designed by Stelek. I liked how it looked, so I put it to the test and it did very well. So there is that.
This list doesn't have a CC presence, so it relies on the shooting phase to get things done. Fortunately, the Dark Eldar do this very well. There are 9 Venoms in the list, each providing 12 poison shots at 36". That is the primary bulk of the anti-infantry in the list, however, they are not alone if their efforts on that front. There are 6 Shredders being carried by the Warrior units, so they'll be able to contribute to the anti-infantry needs as well. But all of this AI is wasted if you cannot get into your opponent's transports. Fortunately for us, we have lots of Dark Lances strewn about the list. In total, we have 21 Dark Lance shots across 9 different units, with each unit packing at least 2 lances each. That means they'll have a reasonable chance at killing their targets (20.6% chance against AV11). It also gives your AT a good amount of protection, as its spread across a large number of units that are decently sized to accept casualties without affecting your firepower. Throw them in cover and each unit will be hard to dislodge at long range.
Haemonculus give FNP to one of the Scourge squads at the start of the battle. He can stay there if you want, but remember that the unit can only move as fast as the slowest member. Thus, it might be a good idea to move him to another unit to eat wounds. The Trueborn act as one of your anti-tank fire support units. Ideally, they start the game in cover and fire their Dark Lances from extreme range. Not exactly scary in close combat, you'll need to screen them with your other units. They don't want to move unless they have to, as that drops your AT significantly. These 5-man units will be difficult to kill when they are sitting in cover and somewhere between 24-36" from your opponent.
As touched on a moment ago, our Warrior squads will fulfill an AI role in the army. This is important, as the Venoms cannot handle all of the work by themselves. Venoms are fragile, even with their built-in Flickerfields. Armed with a Shredder and Splinter Rifiles, these units can be delegated towards killing the one or two guys left over from Splinter Cannon fire. They'll also act as screens for your shooty units to attempt to deter assaults. Just be careful with them, as they are your troops (i.e. they'll be responsible for capturing objectives). Your redundancy should keep them alive, but like all Dark Eldar, they're fragile.
The Scourges act exactly like the Trueborn units do: AT fire support. The difference is, if needed, they can redeploy as they are jump infantry. You'll lose a turn of shooting, but you'll know that you're in a better position than before. In addition, these guys can fulfill a backup AI role if the situation calls for it. Armed with those 2 Dark Lances and 3 Shard Carbines, they'll be a legitimate threat against enemy infantry that gets too close.
Our Ravagers are the best source of firepower we have, but they still are fragile as hell. They'll be targeting critical enemy fire support or transports. Knock a few of your opponent's transports out with your Ravagers early on, then proceed to plaster them with poison shots while you are jumping around the board picking off their remaining vehicles. If you manage to stay just out of reach of your opponent's forces, you'll be in good position to win. With the list's extreme mobility, this is easily accomplished.
However, the list isn't free of flaws. The main one that needs to be mentioned is the inability to defeat Black Templars Land Raider Crusaders (with Blessed Hull upgrade) and the Necron's Tri-Monolith build. In the former list, you can build a rock army with all LRC transports. If this happens, you'll not be able to kill them because Blessed Hull negates the Lance special rule. While you'll be able to kit them around the board easily enough, you'll likely not get a good opportunity to make use of all those Splinter Cannons if your opponent is intelligent enough not to get out of their vehicle. Against the former, it normally isn't a problem but if you are playing an experienced Necron player, they can easily cram everything into a corner of the deployment zone and deploy those Monoliths around the army, blocking LOS. If that happens, then you're screwed because you've got no way to get past (or kill) the Monoliths to get to the Warriors sitting behind. Fortunately for this list, however, these armies are extremely rare so its an acceptable risk.
There are 21 Dark Lances, 6 Shredders, 9 Shard Carbines, and 18 Splinter Cannons in the list. Plenty of dakka to do some damage.

So in a nutshell, the list works like so. Using Baron's ability to get a bonus to your roll to go first, chances are good that you will. At which point, you deploy the Warriors units, Trueborn, and the Wracks with an attached Haemonculus each. They blow straight at the enemy and drop their WWP (yes this means they get out of their Raider), while the Dark Lances on the table shoot at any transports available. Weather the return fire, but really, at this point it doesn't matter. Unless they are super maneuverable, they aren't getting away.
Once your reserves come in, you'll bring on a Baron-led Beastmasters and 3 Talos through the WWP. You're probably in charge range at this point for everything, and if you aren't, you will be very soon. Its pretty much slaughter at this point. Of course, this is a very general tactical outlook but the moral of the story is that you've brought massive threat straight into your opponent's face that they have to deal with or get annihilated. This pretty much leaves the rest of your force to do whatever they want. ;)
You've got 4 extremely dangerous CC units coming out of a WWP to wreck havoc on your opponent's infantry, but can also deal with vehicles. Then you also have 15 Dark Lances, 3 TL-Heat Lances, and 2 Liquifier Guns.
