Kabal of Eternal Darkness Fluff

Picture
There is a story passed down generation to generation to children of the Celious system.  It is a tale of horror, misery, and terrible happenings.  It is said that once a decade when the lifeless planet of Gentra passes between the star Celious IX and the planet Xyn, there is darkness for a fortnight.  This time of darkness does not pass by unnoticed, as there is an air of uneasiness that just won't seem to dissipate.  It is then, that the vile xenos strike.  They smash aside all resistance, butchering at will, and treating all that they encounter as play things.  When the light finally returns, much of the population has vanished and no sign of the demons from the darkness.  It is as if the missing people of Xyn had never even existed and that everything was just a bad dream.  There is no defense against such a raid; the Xynian population just lock their doors and hide, hoping to survive the onslaught.  Some do, but many are never seen again.  Life continues uneventfully, until the next dreadful nightfall arrives...

Ah, yes.  The fluff.  Every army needs something to set them apart from the multitudes of other armies out there.  The Kabal of Eternal Darkness is no different!  Going in, I was thinking of a typical Dark Eldar painting scheme having something to do with black as its main color.  This would also fit the name I chose for my kabal.  Originally, I was thinking black with an orange extreme highlight on the edges of the armor, with the weapons a shade of scab red/red gore heavily washed with badab black.  Well I did some testing with this, and the orange just didn't look so hot on the trim.  My next thought was directed at how I could make these guys similar to my Mordheim Shadow Elves' warband color scheme.  After mulling over some ideas for awhile, I decided to just go simple with a black primary color with dark purple elements instead.  This would ensure a dark, "goth" type scheme that was simple, yet effective.

Because of the nature of the raids on Xyn, it is essential for the Kabal of Eternal Darkness to be mobile.  It is an unnecessary restriction, but I want to keep to the mobile theme intact whenever possible.  As such, vehicles will be seen quite frequently in my lists.  Due to their mobile nature, Scourges and Reavers are also an option.  Basically, if its slow, I don't want it in my Kabal!  :D

Occasionally, a couple of the Haemonculi ask to accompany the raids into real-space.  For what reason, Archon Kaleethra Amaena cannot be entirely sure.  But one does not deny payment to one of the Haemonculi for their "services".  As such, she allows them to lead a small detachment of her Kabal's forces into battle to keep her part of the contract.  However, the warriors under the Haemonculi command never seem to remember what they did during the raid.  This fact is one of great annoyance to Amaena.  It is as if the Haemonculi are hiding something from her...
