Drop Pod Idea...

7/25/2012

So after doing some looking around and thinking a little bit about BT Drop Pods, I had some thoughts and gleaned some ideas that need refining.

First, I think that we can make BT Drop Pods work because of the improved reserves rolls.  I'm going to keep this short, cause I'm pretty tired.  Basically, it involves using Allies.

  • Pedro Kantor
  • Sternguard in a drop pod -- teleport homer
  • Allied Tact squad in drop pod
  • Stormtalon possible?
  • BT uses drop pods as well.
  • Chaplain-led Terminator squad (Assault Cannons)

So that is the basic outline.  Doesn't have to be exactly like thus, but its a starting point.  I'll sleep on it.  :P

If you actually enforce that then you are everything that is wrong in this hobby.

No, what is 90% wrong is GW, then you have the 9% rules lawyers that have no clue about actually doing textual criticism.

I'm actually dreading a new codex, because not only will we probably continue to have "Headstrong" instead of "AACNMTO", but I doubt anything will be done with RZ to change it from the 5th Ed (and 6th) Righteous Mild Enthusiasm. The minimum (IMO) that they should do with it is to make the trigger the old one, so that if you _fail_ a morale check, instead of fallling back, you go forward. Unfortunately, if GW does not want to add in the ability for RZ to allow us to slam into enemy units, then it is pretty much a waste. They might as well just call us Fearless.

Even though I have put all my BT in the basement waiting for a new codex and started to play Necrons I often find myself comming to this blog. Just cant let go of the BT yet.. Now that BT use the regular Drop Pod rules and half comes down turn 1, the BT drop pod list got some serious power.

3x5 terminators with 2 assault cannons or 2 CML in drop pods would be a good start to build a list. No one else can put that many terminators in opponents face turn 1. Now that the "reserve only half your army" rule applies they cant just reserve to counter this tactic.

I think going all drop pods in 6th have a good possibility to win games.
Keep up the good work Laeroth (and the rest of you hanging around here)

Im just beginning to gather my first Crusade and as a "quick and dirty" starting force I got a Space Puppies box, mainly for the Drop pod.I was mainly looking to use a couple of Drop pods and Termies so im interested to see how this post gets fleshed out.

Issue I see with a full drop pod list is under 6th,is what are you starting on the table to keep the EC from getting smashed to pieces if you dont have first turn?
