Hello everyone!  Its been a very busy week for me, as you likely have noticed the lack of comments and articles from me.  Now that its the weekend, and I actually have two days off in a row, I can catch up!  So its comment and email day.  Also have to make my reply regarding Land Raiders on B&C.  Anyway, let the games begin!  Expect a few of these today!  ;)

Hey Laeroth,

I'm a long term fan of your site, having taken many an idea for my Templar lists from your blog, so I figured you might appreciate the attached photo's. What with 6th ed bringing back the want/need for Chaplains, I thought i'd do something a little mental with one just for shits and gigs. Did someone say dual Thunder Hammers? Yes. Yes, they did. Meet Enceladus, a Master of Sanctity capable of bringing close combat pain of biblical proportions.

My local Games Workshop store recently had a competition to purchase and field a single HQ choice in a deathmatch style tournament. It couldn't be a named character with all kinds of ridiculous fluff and special rules, it had to simply be an HQ choice that abided by the rules of it's codex. Twelve people entered the battle... Enceladus left victorious, having wiped out 7 of the 11 combatants himself and having lost just a single wound. He's so far only had the pleasure of playing (and winning) one 6th ed game at 1500pts. It took my opponent a squad of 10 Striking Scorpions, a squad of 10 Dire Avengers, a small squad of snipers, 5 Warp Spiders, 2 Prism Tanks and the Avatar of Kaine to bring him and his 7-man Terminator Assault Squad to its knees. They went down in a blaze of glory, hopping out of their LRC, charging into the Dire Avengers and wiping them out.

Enceladus picked up a wound from incoming fire, but the rest of the squad made their armour saves or invulns. His Scorpions charged me and promptly died without inflicting a single wound. I tossed a Holy Orb of Antioch at his Warp Spiders and wiped them all out. His Prism Tanks nailed 5 of my terminators before Enceladus popped them both like grapes. Sadly the Avatar then charged, issued a challenge and removed Enceladus' final wound, but it was all too late for the Eldar force, who had been all but crippled by one single resilient unit of assault Termies. My other squad of 8 Termies dropped the Avatar with with Assault Cannon fire and my LRC Multi-Melta'd the remaining Prism Tank. Surrender soon followed.

I hope you enjoy the attached images, and long may your blogging continue!

Cheers!

Very nice conversion work here!  I love the Terminator Armor Chaplain model, and will be making a similar set of conversions myself here shortly.  Looking as sexy as he does, surely the Emperor smiled on Enceladus as he pulverized his enemies.  ;)

Its a very nice paint job as well!  Very crisp and realistic.  I'm sure that Marshal Wilhelm will be happy to see he's not the only one using Space Wolf parts.  Haha.  I hope that he continues to provide you with a lot of kills in your battles!  Keep up the great work!  :D

Glad you like the little fella, Laeroth. He always goes down a storm with bystanders in my local hobby store, with scores of people asking me what model it is so that they can buy one since he looks so awesome! His left hammer is indeed the right-handed wolf head thunder hammer from the Wolf Guard box, and the right hand is a custom job with the back end cut off and replaced by a demon head vent from the Chaos Vehicle Sprue.

Since I sent the e-mail he's had the pleasure of a further game at 1999 points in which he was fielded in a Blackwing list, and once again picked up a crushing victory. He's also been fielded in another 'HQ plus single unit' battle in which 5 players participated. He and his dual Assault Cannon sword brethren squad systematically wiped out the Imperial Guard, Space Marine, Space Wolf, and Ultramarines one after another, including Captain Sicarius and Logan Grimnar, with the squad getting the killing blow on every single opponent.

I love the smell of overkill in the morning.

I was under the assumption you couldn't have two Thunderhammers from the armoury, because you're only allowed to take a piece of equipment once? definitely a nice model and a cool idea though.

Actually, the one item restriction is only applicable to the Wargear section of the armory, not the weaponry section. :)

Correct, he's completely legal. I generally field him with either the modelled dual Thunder Hammers, or nominate them dual Power Mauls in casual games against friends for funzies. He's not hugely viable in meaningful games due to his vast points cost.

Next project: using our old codex to my advantage and building another ludicrous model. My intention is to take a cool looking model (I'm open to suggestions on this one by the way guys so give me some feedback), whack a finecast servo harness on it, then modify it to incorporate a jump pack. I'll then equip a Forge World Black Templar Storm Shield and a Lightning Claw or Thunder Hammer and give him Terminator Honours.

Imagine the look on your opponent's face when you field a Techmarine with a servo harness who can move 12", has a 2+ armor save and 3+ invulnerable, a re-roll to hit on a shooting attack due to Signum, the ability to possibly see nearby Infiltrated units and take a pot shot at them due to Auspex, 2 Power Fist Attacks on top of 2 Lightning Claw Attacks (1 standard and +1 for Terminator Honours), not to mention the additional attack for Hammer of Wrath and a possible 2 more attacks on the charge with Accept Any Challenge, No Matter The Odds. A total of 7 attacks on a brutally resilient model? Yes please.

Hey Laeroth, I'm currently doing a dual wield thunderhammer Wolf Lord and I've been struggling with the conversion. Would you be able to email me some W.I.P pics, or a some advice on how you posed the left arm?
