Game Three and Dark Eldar coming up!

Since Game Three was the game where I pretty much got slaughtered, the battle report was quite easy to write up.  This is my biggest loss of the weekend and I'll get into the why's in the coming report.

In addition, as I noted previously, its going to be Dark Eldar for Nova 2012 most likely.  Yeah, I know ya'll are cursing me under your breath, but I think it'll be a good way for you to mentally challenge yourself against the list I'm going to be posting up.  I'm not forsaking the Black Templars, in fact, I've been doing some painting lately to fix up the blundering mess of a paint job I gave my marines for Nova.  I've also been tooling around with my Nova Open list a bit, in order to be prepared for the next year's Nova Open should I not finish my DE army in time.  ;)

Anyway, expect those posts within a day or so.  :)

Well, depending on what your DE list looks like, I'll say that from the several games I've played against DE, I'd prefer to face a DE list than your BT list with my BT list. It all comes down to how many 5s & 6s you can roll...

If you can roll them like crazy, then it is going to be a fight and one that I'd have to finesse out, if you roll average, I'll grind you up probably and if you cannot roll them, I'll probably table you. Of course, the DE have some new units I haven't seen played with yet, so...

@Algesan

The only problem is that Personal Experience is just about the worst way to know how good or how bad an army is. You mentioned yourself that against your list Dark Eldar have a hard time, but then again you don't exactly have a common type of list. Further, you may have been facing poor opponents or ones who simply have poor lists.

They could rely on making those 5+ rolls, or it may be that they can take certain upgrades or units and avoid having to make quite as many 5+ rolls. I wouldn't rule them out completely, partially since I haven't heard very many bad things about them (actually the opposite), but then again I don't know quite enough to make sure judgements.

True on both my list and the potential quality of some of the players. One of them is one of the best local players. Lots of advantages for DE, the trick is to deny them their mobility.

Where my list shines is in two places: A) I don't have anything for the lance weaponry to work against so there is no bonus there.
B) Lots of S9/8/5 firepower at 36-48" range which punches out DE vehicles fairly handily if they miss their 5+ saves.

In fact, it was playing a game against that player I mentioned above that shifted me off the pure Drop Pod concept over to Deep Striking. Dropping on the board and finding everything scattered all over the place with a 4+ save from moving flat out was enlightening.
