I'm back!

I survived the flights out to Washington DC and back, the Nova Open event, and Hurricane Irene. So if that was all the weekend turned out to be, I'd have been happy. But it was so much more than that. :D

I'll be posting up my thoughts, review, and basically talking about how the event all went down later this evening. But let me say, thank you to everyone that donated either time, money, or shelter to get me there. It was AMAZING. I'm definitely going again next year and you all should do so as well. Worth every single last penny I spent over there. Totally worth the lack of sleep to get my army painted and built in time (yes, there is a story there)! Nova Open was on a completely different level of awesome than any other tournament I've ever been to (which has been a lot, though none recently). We'll get more into that later.

To start off with, I won't do the battle reports just yet as they'll take some time to compile and I have some other stuff about the weekend that I would like to talk about first. How the event itself was, basics about how I did and what I thought about my performance, list tweaks, the tournament setup, and even perhaps talk a little bit about everyone I met.

Anyway, I have some stuff I need to do, but rest assured that I'll get a post up for you all by sometime late this evening. ;)

Welcome back and I wish I had gone now that I know more about the NOVA setup.

The funny part, I grew up on the Gulf Coast and live there now, so I'm used to weather guys playing "chicken little" until the hurricane hits, so I was fairly sure it wasn't going to be a cat 3 by the time it got up to the tournament, at best a cat 1. Nothing to sneeze at, but hurricanes ramp up quickly and in a nice sturdy building, no big deal. Maybe you lose power, maybe you don't.

I'm definitely looking forward to your next post, though I wish you would get those battle reports up sometime.

If there is one thing that Black Templar players are missing, it's battle reports. I can go on Youtube or Google and find several battle-reports of nearly every army, except Black Templars and Sisters of Battle. I can find battle reports for them, but there really aren't very many good ones, and they help to improve the community (especially if you can point to mistakes with yourself, your list, your opponent, even the terrain). They just seems like something that would go well on your site but aren't there.

Oh, don't misunderstand me. I'm definitely doing battle reports. Just not this second, I want to write this little "thoughts" article first as it'll cover a lot of the stuff that I noticed in the games themselves. So when the battle reports come, you'll have an understanding about what I was thinking, feeling, etc. :D

They will be up sometime in the next couple days I suspect. :)

I am looking forward to reading the battle reports. Ours will read like a comedy. The Nova Open was my first tournament, and the most games I have played in 2+ years, so it was a bit of overload for me as well. That being said, I would do it again in a heartbeat, and hope to see you there next year as well. Maybe we could get in a game before the tournament on one of the good looking tables.
