LE Codex is in hand!  :D

Games Workshop didn't disappoint me.  I have the new LE BT codex in my hand and already making some conclusions, as well as being a little sad face on others.  All will be sorted soon!  This post really is just a notification that I've got the codex and I'm probably going to randomly start spurting out blog posts talking about the new stuff we've got.

Couple things I did note, however, as it was central to my army planning was the cost to Centurians.  I knew they were 190 points base, but I was lead to believe that they were also standard with Grav Cannons.  NOPE.  Chalk up another 20 points each for that weapon, as well as another 10 points for the Missile Launcher (single ML, not cyclone like was rumored)...you have a 280 point squad.  Much more expensive than what I thought we were going to be paying.  Have I changed my mind on their merits?  Not at all.  But they are definitely no longer a "must-take" for me due to their price.  Do I want to cough up 560 points for these guys?  I...don't know.

Emperor's Champion will see very little play.  We were led to believe he could use his stances outside of challenges.  This is not the case.  He's not worth the 140 points.  Though, ironically, his new fluff is pretty freaking amazing.  I'm definitely liking it.  But Cruddace really missed the mark on our iconic HQ unit.  Sad face.

Crusader squads are pretty much exactly the same as they were before.  Except better, because you can take a Sword Brethren upgrade.  Oh, and you can still have 5-man Las/Plas units.  Just in case you were wondering.  ;)

Haha! Its going to be a busy next few months, that's for sure! :D

As for your LE codex, I'm sorries. I'm not sure why some were shipped and others not. If it makes you feel better, I have two clear, circular stickers the size of a quarter stuck on my page 161 that I cannot remove without destroying the page. :(

Aww no way. I would actually complain about that. Way to mess up unique and individual product with stickers >.>

I managed to sneak a digital copy of the rules already though. Like you said, lots of reading to be done!

The Emperor's Champion surprised me as well. Helbrecht looks like he's going to be seeing a lot of use in my lists. In my first run through, I saw several cool things I'm going to want to try.

I opted out of the LE book and I'll just look forward to the supplement ;)

Did you notice that Neophytes can now take bolters? And Grimaldus can have 5 Cenobytes (that 6++ bubble has grown in size). The EC was a disappointment... but then can always use the miniature as a Chapter or Company Champion.

Were they always a separate unit though? I have never fielded him before and always thought you could hide him/them in a larger unit. Doesn't look like you can now.

Cenobytes used to be wargear for Chaplains. However, it appears that they now work in a similar manner to Techmarines and Servitors, by forming a single unit with Grimaldus.

We have access to them both along with Crusader Squads. Flamers and Missile Launchers are no longer free.

Well, I promised to be nice and not indulge in negative speech here, so....I did find something useful in the brand new smurfily retconned fluff. All the new pro-witch fluff explains perfectly and exactly why Black Templar are the only Marine group considered Desperate Allies by the Sisters of Battle.

Have fun guys.

It's funny that BT has now turned into "power armored orks". The ability to army wide fleet + hatred for one turn + Helbrecht's furious charge (on his unit), is going to play into a lot of lists. (i am of course talking about taking Helbrecht as a default choice).

I'm going to be picking up a veterans box just to pimp out some sword brothers for the crusader squads. power axes and swords for everybody!

Disappointed that no chapter tactics for dreads...so they miss out on the hatred/fleet stuff...if that applied to dreads, I was going to be taking a whole slew of ironclads with me...

As I understood, now we can pick the Emperor's Champion as Only HQ choice (because he can be a warlord now), that was not exactly possible before, which can makes low costs army easier to make now.

Does the 5 Terminator still able to have 2 Assault Cannons? (I will miss it if not)

I still didn't received my Codex, but as I read we're not so weaked as I thought we would be.
What I'm fearing is about the Chaplains, and the Crux Terminatus we had before.

But many new units which will be realy usefull for us, like Anti-Air tanks / missiles and Whirlwind, variants of Land Raiders (redeemer can be cool to use with BT)

There is ONE thing which will be hardcore, as we rolled into SpaceMarines codex, we won't be able to take Space Marines as ally anymore =/, (except Blood Angles / Dark Angels / Space Wolves) or is there any rule about that?

*Note: about painting, I will makes some sternguards officials sets and some Conversions too, I'll try to send you my pic when they will be painted.*

Now I have my Codex I can change What I just wrote above.

New Emperor's Champion definitly sux, as it seem he will count as a real HQ choice and isn't a forced choice above XXpts of our Army. And no more Rage or Furious Charge by him. And in 1vs1 challenge he can be awesome with the 6+ instant death possibility.

And we still can take Space Marines allies, as each Chapter count as a separated "Codex" for Allies.

Our chaplain got uselessified. I mean we could reach 9 attack of Power Fist when Charging with our old Codex. Now this is no more possible.

No more Adamantium Cloak (Instant Death preventing), No more Crux Terminatus (+1 attack). No more 10+ commandmant for all troups when having a Senechal as HQ.

Helbrecht isn't really usefull from what I've read.

But Grimaldus can be realyrealy usefull, as we can get Cenobites servants that grant a 6+ "protection" that can be used after a taken Wound to every unit in 6" area arround a Cenobite. (Don't know the english name of this rule, the Aphoticare grant same, and the Plagues Marines have it too, Iron Hands also.)
This bonus can be really usefull in a Gunline list in Line Formation of our Guns with Grimaldus and his Cenobits with maximum space between each of them.

The Assault Centurion seems to be one of our futur main key, 3 (+1 when charging) attacks of str9 ap2 at rank 4 of Initiative (the CC order of attacking)
Also using Hurrican Bolters and Flamorz with the Siege Drill for large size squad destruction.
Placing them inside of a LRC or a LRR to rush inside enemy massive formation can be realy effective.
I will try this soon against Orks, and I'll give you the feedback of how it was Effective. (3 centurions inside a LRC probably)

Lots of improvment, lots of nerfs (loosing many specifications that made our BT what they where)

But I'm happy to have access to all the SpaceMarines units, WhirlWind / LRR / SternGuard / Dreadnought IronClad / etc
And also our StormRaven can take a Dreadnought like the Blood Angelss (Don't know if it was already possible with Death From The Sky, I still don't have the book atm)

I hope GW will make new Honor Guards models and / or conversion kit for BT Honor Guards. (and I'm impatient to see the futur new units ALL in plastics and no more Citadel Finecast f**** fake plastic)

Do we still get Sword Brethren as a separate elites choice??

Nop, the unit doesn't exist anymore.
But you can take the Space marine Elite Assault Veteran squad, which is exactly the same for equipment.
