Okay.  So I survived the packing of all of my stuff (and donating of the rest), driving across the country to my new home with my girlfriend, and readjusting to my new place of employment. That by itself has been exceptionally draining over the past month and a half.  Adjusting to my new life in general has been taking up a vast majority of my time, but if that were not the case, I had other complications that kept me from getting back online and posting.  Short story?  My laptop (what I use for everything) passed out of this world shortly after I made that last blog entry.  Not having a computer obviously prevents me from posting a whole lot.

I know ya'll have been emailing.  I know there have been comments.  I can see it on my smart phone.  Hell, I can even technically edit the website/blog on my phone with an app.  Problem is, its super tedious to write long drawn out articles (pretty much all I do) on a phone.  It'll probably be a few months until I can replace my computer, because a lot of my extra $$ got sucked up in the move/Christmas.  Fortunately, my wonderful girlfriend is kind enough to lend me her laptop on occasion going forward, until I can replace mine.  Nevertheless, I've been watching somewhat.  You might have even noticed me hitting up Twitter the past couple of days.  I'm glad to see that there was some response!  Got some feedback, which was really important, because I'm behind the times with my lack of internet and no game store in the near vicinity (closest that I can tell is an 1.5 hours away).

Which brings me to my next topic:  I need information.  I'm definitely starting the BT 101, probably as early as this weekend, but its going to have to be free of anything ally related for now because I have not even seen the new Sisters of Battle codex, the Inquisitors supplement, or any of these handy dandy dataslates I am hearing about.  Doesn't help that I don't have a tablet to download these things.  Any info on them any of you can spare, would be appreciated. Specifically in regards to the Inquisitors.  Other than that, good to be back on the horse and settled.  Let's get this BT 101 going, shall we?

The inquisitorial supplement is pretty awesome actually. It is going to make our crusader squads absolutely devastating in CC. Of course them being allies means no tanks to support your CC infantry, but your blobs will actually do damage even after getting shot up a bit with the Inquisitors there.

For a mere 85 points you can get a lvl 1 psycher, with rad and psychotroke grenades, 9 more points buys you 3 servo skulls if you want to neuter the WS biker list. There are a bunch of other options as well, but again you know me and my only caring about the CC stuff =)

Not to sure about the new sisters... we aren't battle bros with them anyway.

As far as keeping up, good luck, GW has been releasing stuff on an unprecedented scale lately, I think they are even doing a "25 days of releases" deal where they are releasing these mini supplements as didgital downloads. One a day for 25 days, this includes both 40k and fantasy however.

As for your move, glad to see you made it safe bud, stay in touch best you can!

Oh and as a sidenote on the inquisitorial deal. You can just take the inquisitors, it doesnt work like normal allies. Plus it doesnt affect whether or not you can take an actual ally to your BT's. You can literally just take 2 inquisitors, and that is it, or one, or whatever, it's pretty nice.

I asked on Facebook GW Digital Editions about our allies status because BT were not in the Inquisitor book chart and was told we are in the Space Marines codex

So effectively the BRB allies table entry for BT does not exist any more as we are just space marines.

read page 78 under designer notes on black templar chapter tactics, any previous publications that refer to codex:black templars are treated as Chapter tactics:black templars, therefore, we have the same allies chart in the BRB, however, anything new that refers to black templars that don't specifically states other wise, it applies chapter tactics: black templars

Inquisitors are super awesome replacement chaplains. With a little relic upgrade, they grant any of the following with an ld test (ld 10).

Scout, hatred, split fire, counterattack, fear (i think). Cost almost nothing in points. Cheaper then a chaplain with more wounds. (less T though).

So quick uses. Attach to honorguard squad. Outflank them, with a plasma thingy (all plasma within 12 inches fires at BS 1). Suddenly honorguard is mega scary, and more survivable against fire. Also grants them stubborn. Can take rad and/or psychotroke grenades too.

Take a malleus...with relic and terminator armor and PSYCANNON (and daemon hammer).

Deep strike with assault terminators. Scatter less due to servo skulls (you can take 3 for 9 points). Now fire at things with the cannon, and grant counter attack the turn you land (in case you get charged), and hatred the next turn when you charge. Also gives the terminators stubborn and psykout grenades.

Sample list I'm playing with.

HQ:
Ordos Malleus Inquisitor (Warlord)
Terminator Armor, Daemon Hammer, Psycannon, Liber Heresius, two servo skulls

Master of the Forge (Storm Raven)

Elite:
Ironclad Dreadnought with Heavy Flamer/Melta Gun, Drop Pod
Assault Terminators, 5x Thunderhammer/SS

Troops:
10x Scout Snipers, Sniper Sarg, Camo Cloaks (All sniper rifles)

10x Crusaders, CCW/BP, Power Axe, Meltagun, Sword Brother, Lightning claw (Storm Raven)

6x Crusaders, Bolters, Plasma Cannon

Heavy:
Storm Raven Gunship (TL Las, TL MM)

Vindicator, Siege Shield, Extra Storm Bolter

Vindicator, Siege Shield, Extra Storm Bolter

Can you make the Inquisitor your warlord in this list? I think it will have to be the MotF

"If your army includes an Inquisitorial detachment, you can nominate one
Inquisitor (including Inquisitor Coteaz or Inquisitor Karamazov) to be your
army’s Warlord, instead of a character from your primary detachment."

So ya, you can not only just plop one in there for a minuscule points for massive force multipliers...but you can get access to their warlord traits, of which 1, 2 and 3 in malleus are actually decent!

i love the inquistion codex so much
i'm thinking of running 2 10 man terminator squads with 2 assault cannons, and 2 ordo malleus inquisitors with terminator armour and psycannons, one of which will be warlord, each are 80 points, but im also thinking of spending 30 on each and upgrading them to psychic mastery lvl one and a roll on divination. then as i'm still not restricted to allies, take an imperial guard artillery battery, then due to some expension, apparently I can now legally add a formation of 1 riptide and 6 broadsides for some nasty anti air.
assuming its not the sam expension slot (i haven't read the books yet), i can take a super heavy... and another expension allows additional fortifications.... thats one huge army...

Anybody else out there stinging a bit from the Templar's sudden willingness to play nice with psykers, even of the Inquisitorial bent? Personally, I'd rather play a "true" (read: before the latest fluff softening) Templar list than one that min/maxes to a greater degree.

Might be a good option for an article in the future? What's the best "fluff" list one can play?

Good luck with the move transition!

i play a homebrew successor chapter that hates on daemons and heritics, it's based on the knights of st john (more commonly known as the knights hospitallers), so they play nice with imperial psykers

There are a number of examples of the templars fighting directly along side the inquisition on crusades, and the high marshal will also take heed of information given by the inquisition as to where to strike next.

You can also take an inquisitor who "isn't" a psyker. They aren't all psykers. That's the nice thing about the new book, lets you play completely within the lines of fluff if you want, just adding some character to your army, or making use of GW's patches to the game.

I'm mainly using inquisitors to regain some of the lost abilities of the templars...like outflanking sword brethern with reroll hits on the charge. :)

Can you put some of those priests from the war and into one of our units? I'm confused on the ruling there just because it's says character unit or something

i don't think so, as i haven't read a rule like the necron lords/crypteks and space wolves to split off from the unit. He's probably just a regular character like a sergeant is

Some good ideas here. But first things first. I need to do Firepower's army response for him. I've been pushing it back forever and I owe him.

I would like to see that list. I am currently running one LRC loaded with the EC and a 15-man squad and having fun with it.

I was running one like that as well, and it is fun, but I eventually switched to a chaplain with a fist and a grav pistol, just to give the squad itself more hitting power. I miss using the champ though =(

Are BT allowed to ally with themselves? Or only other chapters? If so, I've been thinking of a small BT ally so I can have 2 HQ's plus the EC. It won't change my army much or give me some major advantage, but it would allow getting back to our fluff.

i don't think so, pretty sure you have to ally with different chapter tactics, but at 2K, using dual FOC you could

I will always feel such joy when 15 guys with company of an chaplain jumps out of a LRC , assault and create mayhem to lets say a squad of Eldar :)

I've been dithering between Ravenguard/Raptors and Black Templars for my Chapter Tactics since the new book came out. Really looking forward to the updated 101 to help me make my mind up.

I've played about 8 games with the new BT codex. I've found that though the chapter tactics are useful, they don't really define the game. I either win or lose without them being a major factor.

As with most 6th edition, I also found out that the less assaulting I do, the better my chances at winning. As such I've moved to using a unit of sniper scouts as my primary troop choice, as they seem to do constant annoying damage to most of the field, but not enough to warrant a massive response to them. They are also FAR more durable then at first seems, especially if someone tries to knock them off the objective and finds out they are S4, T4.

I now use my primary crusader squad in a storm raven gunship (hurricane bolters, TL-AC, TL-MM), for later objective grabbing. They are excellent at knocking units off an objective in later turns...but horrible at assaulting choppy things directly. (Throw them at similar units, not elites).

My MVP's in most of my games have been...

The stormraven (killed two daemon princes one game...it lays down an almost horrific amount of firepower), and my twin heavy flamer ironclad...which has single handedly won games for me.

Last game the ironclad dropped, flamed a unit of reavers, wiped them out for first blood. Then it was charged by a daemon walker, it blew up the daemon walker, it then proceeded to flame another backfield unit off an objective, and tied up most of his army trying to dislodge it.

In the end, the ironclad earned me...
first blood
linebreaker
1 point from killing a heavy (big guns never tire).
and eliminated a enemy troop choice off an objective, and prevented said objective from being retaken.

Last few games were 1k points (usually played with a random teammate at 1k). Here's the list.

HQ:
Master of the forge (improved terrain for scouts)

Troops:
10x sniper scouts with camo cloaks
10x crusader squad with power axe, flame, sword brother.

Elite:
Ironclad with dual hvy flamers, drop pod.

Heavy:
Hunter
Vindicator with siege shield
Stormraven with TL-MM, TL-AC, 2x Hurricane bolters

I also tried a similar list which dropped the crusader squad and master of the forge with a captain on bike (fist, Storm shield, AA), with a troop bike squad. Nuggle daemon roll wiped out 4 of 5 bikes before they ever got to do anything.
