By now all of us have had plenty of time to play with the new edition and our codex. We've gotten to grips with what the current meta looks like and what we need to look for. Now with Chapter Approved out there, we've had a few updates to our world. Troops have become important again and thus, we need to examine how to use ours. We will be starting with the one that is unique to our chapter -- the Crusader squad.

Hello all! So I am here today to talk about alpha strikes and how they pertain to the current meta. As we speak, the newest codices are changing the face of the game. We have the Astra Militarum codex, which has introduced a different style of foot-based list (not conscripts!) and revived the 5th-Edition "leaf-blower" list. This list features lots of vehicles and ridiculous amounts of firepower to essentially blow you off the board. Then we have the insanely mobile, cheap, and powerful Aeldrai. These guys have the firepower to do some serious damage as well. Then we have the Tyranids. They are much improved, with ability to take blobs of cheap infantry, lots of large creatures, lots of shooting...and most important, perhaps meta-breaking, is the ability to reserve tons of things onto the board. They are saturating their enemy's frontlines with close combat units, which will negate their opponent's ability to shoot.
Hello all! Sorry I didn't get this out sooner, but I had a trip to go on. Just wanted to let ya'll know that I was up and about again. No more of that, though. This is a post about how I feel 8th Edition is going and where we need to go from here. :)
Life and Destiny 2 have released me. Blog posts incoming! :)
Hello there! So I come to you all with a problem...Smite-Spam. I have come to the conclusion that there is only one way to be top-tier competitive and that is to have reliable psyker defense. Right now, our stratagem doesn't cut it. We cannot block more than one power per phase, which is not enough. So I have a simple question...how do we beat the following list?
Belakor Changling 4x Malefic Lords 12x units Horrors 12x units Exalted 2x Quad Mortar Battery 146 points Summoning Hello all! I hope your battles are going well! Today I'm going to post up something I haven't done in an extremely long time. Here is a fun list that I've been playing with, to reasonable success, the last week or so. It amuses me greatly. Why? Because like those foot lists with a billion models/wounds, I am also putting a ton of bodies and wounds on the board. It makes it incredibly difficult for your opponent to deal with, though there are certainly hard counters to the list that will decimate you. Nevertheless, the list is fun.
I'm here today to talk about our newest brethren to the Black Templars. I guess I'll start by saying that I'm not here to debate fluff with anyone, but we need to take a look at the actual rules for each of these units and decide the initial value of taking them in a list. Are they worth it...? Note: We won't be discussing HQs.
UPDATED: July 21st, 2017
As many of you saw, yesterday the chapter tactics for all of the space marine chapters in the new codex were released. And let me tell you, the outcry to the Emperor was overwhelming. Sickening really...but that's neither here nor there. Let's take a look at them. Hey everyone. Today I want to talk about something that affects us all: bias in our list building. Everyone does it, at least sub-consciously, to some extent. Whenever we build a list, we're tailoring that army to our desires and needs in the Warhammer 40k game. Whether that happens to be a preference towards close combat, shooting, or perhaps heavy mechanization, we're putting a force on the board that uses our play-style. But the question is, are we allowing that bias to block our view of the better choices in our codices?
Hello everyone! Just a quick message to everyone. First, I have a ton of blog posts written and finished regarding 8th Edition that just need to be released. Which was going to happen, but....then GW came out with the news we were getting our codex within the month. Obviously, this complicates things as I don't want info coming out that is going to simply be invalidated in a few weeks. Once I make the necessary changes to the posts when the codex comes out, they will be released. Which leads me to announcement number two...
The Black Templars 101 is password protected. Why? Because it hasn't been re-written yet. When these pages are finished, I will take the password wall down and they will be fully open to the public once more. The password wall isn't an elite perk or anything like that, I just haven't finished updating the pages yet and I don't want old edition tactica "helping" players. Rest assured, it won't be up long. |
